Civic Center Park's 45 acres include a range of sports and outdoor opportunities for visitors, with amenities such as baseball diamonds, a one-mile long walking path, public pool, basketball courts and a skate park. It is located just southwest of Northwestern Michigan College, which contains the Dennos Museum Center. Other structures at the park include the Kid's Kove play area, the Howe Arena ice skating rink, an outdoor stage and an amphitheater.
